Mixed Media Cluster Flower with Core Inks
Natasha Vacca
Hello Hero Arts friends, it's Natasha Vacca here on the blog today! I am excited to share an idea using your Core Inks to create an easy mixed media background. For my focal image I am using the beautiful Cluster Flower Fancy Die.

I started with a piece of glossy cardstock from my stash. I chose this cardstock to use as I wanted to use my Core Inks on my gelli plate! I started by adding the ink directly to my gelli plate by pressing the ink pad directly onto to the gelli plate surface. I lightly spritzed the ink with water and moved the ink using my brayer. I then placed the paper directly onto the gelli plate with my fingers, then removed the paper. I repeated this process with each of the colors: Ultra Pink, Lemon Yellow, and Pink Grapefruit. I found I needed to work quickly as the ink dries fast. I continued to repeat using layers, until I had the texture I was looking for. Once all of the inking was complete, I added splatters using Gold Glimmer Metallic Ink, as well as Sea Salt Reactive Ink. I added these mediums to my work surface mixed with a little water, then added splatters using my paintbrush.
Once the panel was completely dry, I added additional texture to the background using White Hero Paste through the Sparkle Weave Stencil a with a Palette Knife. Once the paste was dry, I added additional inking using Caramel and Pitch Black Core Inks using a small blending brush. I also added Icelandic Hero Wax for added texture and shine. Then I added text using the White Collage Backgrounds Part 2 Hero Transfers.

I die cut the background using the Nesting Postage Dies and added inking to the edges using Pitch Black Ink. I added additional Icelandic wax as well. I then die cut the Cluster Flower Fancy Die from Pitch Black Cardstock three times and adhered them together using Precision Glue.
I completed the card by adhering a panel of Granite Carstock onto an A2 card base. I added texture to the edges of the Granite panel using my crafting scissors. Then I adhered the Cluster Flower on top, and completed the project with a sentiment from the Everyday Sentiment Strips Stamp Set. I added some shine with a few sequins from the Champagne Sequins Mix.

I hope you enjoyed today's project and it inspires you to use your Core Inks to create a mixed media background! Have a great day!
